What are the differences between carpet types?

Berber

Berber is a loop pile carpet and is exceptionally durable, practical, and great for all-purpose use. The yarn used is quite heavy and wide, and the loops can be made at either a one height, or even different heights, to form a textured pile.

Loop-pile

Loop-pile is made from wool, nylon, polypropylene or a blend of these fibres. It is excellent at hiding footprints and is ideal for busy areas of the house. Loops can get caught in animal claws so be careful with pets.

Saxony

Saxony carpet is made from twisted yarns. The long pile feels sumptuous and decadent underfoot giving an elegant look. It can flatten easily and show footprints.

Twist-pile

Twist-pile carpet is made from twisted fibres which create a textured surface that is springy underfoot. Good at hiding scuffs, footprints and vacuum cleaner marks it is ideal for busy areas of the house.
